GMV’s Remote Sensing Applications and Services (RSAS) Division is the developer of the proposed solutions in the project. Contracts related to the present proposal include the following proved skills: management solutions and social awareness raising for integrated forest management (FIRESMART), a pan-European satellite based forest fuel classification (ArcFUEL), an eco-habitat classification of the Abu Dhabi Emirate based on WorldView-2 imagery, REDD+ MRV research projects (RECOVER & PREFER) and specific agriculture services for vineyards (Spain and South Africa), cotton, soya and sugar cane (Brazil), olive groves (Spain). Other contracts also credit RSAS division at GMV for capacity building (institutional relations with EU, international organizations, State Administrations and social actors -NGO’s-) and training in remote sensing applications, including: image pre-processing, advanced image classification, multi-temporal and multi-sensor data processing, GIS analysis, mapping services, WMS services. All remote sensing products are INSPIRE and OGC compliant.

A key technological partner
GMV has taken part in all phases of remote sensing missions, from feasibility and mission studies to system design, development, integration, operations support and maintenance. GMV provides processed images, added value information systems and intelligence services addressing decision-makers’ needs; application areas include weather forecasting, humanitarian crisis management, border control, human and natural disasters, maritime traffic surveillance, urban planning, land use and integrated forest management, precision farming, biodiversity and health.
In those fields, GMV is a key technological partner within the European GMES programme and related operational services. Within GMES, GMV has participated in the different areas either funded by the European Space Agency or the European Commission:

Health (SAFE, early warning systems for tele-epidemiology);
Surveillance and security (LIMES, MARISS, G-MOSAIC, LIMES, NEREIDS, Bridges);
Risk management (WIN, PREVIEW);
Environment (BEinGRID, OSIRIS, GSE, DRUID);
Agricultural monitoring, agroclimatology and water cycle management (WinEO, MyWater)
